Malcolm James McCormick, known by his performance name Mac Miller, was a well known music artist and record producer who left many people with questions after his death. According to the toxicology report provided by the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, Miller died of an accidental overdose on September 7, 2018, but many suspect a more sinister motive.

Miller was born on January 19, 1992. He began opening up to music when he was in the 8th grade. He taught himself how to play numerous instruments along with singing and rapping. In the year of 2010, Miller signed a record deal with the independent recording label “Rostrum Records” and began writing music that related to his life.

When his first album “Blue Slide park” was released, it reached the number one position on the billboard 200 chart and made Mac Miller famous overnight. This caused his fan base and record offers to skyrocket. He started to show up in more interviews and music videos. Miller always appeared to be happily satisfied whenever he was on camera.

Because he was such an outgoing person in public and seemingly overall, his death has confused millions. Did he intentionally overdose and what was his reason, or was it really accidental?

His childhood hadn’t been considered a reason because it did not consist of anything negative. So why did he choose to leave his celebrity life so early?

Towards the middle of Miller's short career, he became heavily involved with drugs and substance abuse and wasn't afraid to share his struggle in interviews and in his art. He defined all these feelings, thoughts, and actions into the music he created.

When Mac Miller published his music video “Self Care” on July 12, 2018, all eyes focused on Miller because of the morbid imagery of the video. The music video shows him smoking a cigarette in a coffin while carving his way out of it. He eventually is seen standing on the top of the coffin when an explosion surrounds over his body.

Many question whether this was intentional, or perhaps foretelling, or just another dramatic performance. Malcolm James McCormick suffered from depression, substance abuse, and maybe more. Either way, Mac Miller, because of his talent and work ethic, will be remembered as a musical icon of this generation.
