The upcoming film, Chaos Walking, is a science fiction film that is based on one of Patrick Ness’ best-selling novels, Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go. This was the first within a trilogy series that would lead to Chaos Walking: The Ask and the Answer and Chaos Walking: Monsters of Men. The extraordinarily talented and astounding British actor, Tom Holland would play the main character, Todd Hewitt, alongside his brilliant co-star, Daisy Ridley, who would play Viola Eade. Directed by Doug Liman, a few other known stars that the film had cast are Mads Mikkelsen, Demián Bichir, Kurt Sutter, Nick Jonas, Cynthia Erivo, and David Oyelowo.

The road to releasing Chaos Walking has been tough as Robert Zemeckis was originally tapped to direct the movie in 2013 off a script he liked from Kaufman. However, after no progress on the project was made, Doug Liman had stepped in to make the movie in 2016. Production began in 2017 and Lionsgate set a March 1, 2019 release date. The original opening had been scheduled for 2018, however it got pushed back when major reshoots were required for the film. By 2019, a $100 million early cut was released but was deemed “unreleasable” by the entertainment company, Lionsgate, and its executives. More reshoots were salvaged as they set the new 2021 release date.

The trailer did such an outstanding job of summarizing what the movie would be about and what the novel was about to those who had never read or heard of it previously. It explains how this story is set in the future where a young man, Todd Hewitt, lived on a distant planet: New World. Todd grows up to believe that a germ had been released into his world, killing the entire female population. This pathogen had also released an ability called "the Noise" on the men that allows people to hear both the minds and thoughts of humans and animals. A secret of the New World must be unlocked and Todd begins his adventure once he comes across a woman without Noise, Viola Eade, who holds the key. The trailer is obviously not going to give away what happens, but the audience can be intrigued with knowing what the adventure will be about and how the movie will revolve around it.

The sound and visuals within the trailer held the ability to give the audience a feeling of suspense and curiosity. There is a countdown at the beginning of the trailer leading up to very sudden and loud noises that heighten the viewers’ experience as they are watching it. Catching the eye of the audience was done by the amazing visual effects that went into this movie and trailer that allowed a realistic setting of the film along with creating action packed scenes for display. It is clearly shown that the time and budget that went into this film had allowed an ultimate experience to its watchers. It proved that the extra years that were required for reshooting and really made the film something that was worth watching.

Chaos Walking looks very intriguing and has drawn the attention of science fiction fans as well as fans of Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley. The release date for this film is set January 22nd, 2021.
