Star Wars Visions is the newest piece of media in the Star Wars Universe. Released on September 22nd Star Wars Visions was unlike anything that had come before it. The special thing about it was that it was animated by different animation studios in different anime art styles. In total seven different animation studios worked on nine episodes with two studios working on two separate episodes. The series itself is an anthology which means all the episodes are independent of each other. Also, the series isn’t canonical to the mainstream Star Wars Universe.

Each episode is different and has a different story to it in total there are nine episodes. The duel, Tatooine Rhapsody, The Twins, The Village Bride, The Ninth Jedi, T0-B1, The Elder, Lop and Ocho, and Akakiri. While some episodes are excellent and have a very interesting story because of them all being different from each other this leads to some other episodes being hit or miss. All of the episodes have something to them, but there are definitely some episodes that are clearly better than others. The top 5 episodes in my opinion were The Village Bride, The Twins, The Elder, The Ninth Jedi, and The Duel.

5. The Village Bride: This episode is about a couple who was getting married before the Bride was to be taken away by a warlord, but a traveler intervenes. This was a good episode but like most of the episodes felt like it had more to tell and felt it was restricted by being condensed into a single 18 minute episode. That along with there wasn’t a fulfilling action scene leaves it at number five.

4. The Twins: This episode is about a brother and sister who were raised since their birth to be the ultimate weapon of the dark side until the brother fights back against his sister and tries to save both of them from the dark side. This episode had a new spin on the classic trope we’ve seen in Star Wars where a Jedi is tempted by the dark side in that a dark side user is called to the light and fights back against the dark side. Although this was a nice twist the other episodes really outshine this one which is why it is at number 4.

3. The Elder: This episode is about a Jedi Master and his Padawan traveling to the Outer-rim until the Master feels a disturbance in the force and eventually fights a dark side user who have thought to have been destroyed hundreds of years ago. The dynamic between the Padawan and Master is familiar as it parallels other Masters and Padawans such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker in that the Padawan is eager for adventure while the Master is more cautious. The fight scene between the Jedi and Sith is very well done and is why this episode is at number 3.

2. The Ninth Jedi: This episode is about a lightsaber smith and his mission to restore the Jedi order. He sets out to bring together others who also wish to restore the order and makes lightsaber blades for them, but before he can give them to the members he is attacked and his daughter must take them to the members. Once she arrives and gives them the sabers all but one of them turn out to be Sith. After they reveal themselves a droid they had encountered earlier also reveals itself to be the one that they had all been looking for then the fight commences. The fight was very well made and the animation was just as good which is why it is at number two.

1. The Duel: This episode is about raiders who ravage a town when they try to steal from them. At first, the townspeople have the upper hand until a Sith comes out and joins the fight. It seems all hope is lost until a wanderer attacks the sith, but is also revealed to be a dark side user. This type of fight dynamic isn’t one we’ve seen much in Star Wars where two sith users fight each other. The fight itself was flawlessly made from the animation to the story being told during the fight it was spectacular and for that, it is at number one.

All in all, while Star Wars Visions has some misses it is overall a very good show and deserves a watch if you haven’t already. You can watch Star Wars Visions on Disney Plus.
