This pep rally was generated to create an exciting atmosphere for the students at school as well as create more school spirit to kick off the school year. The pep rallies are made to create an enthusiastic environment that will hopefully encourage students to attend such events and to show how much the school really cares about the students' education as well as encourage them to attend social events.

So, how was it?

Beginning

The Covina High School rally began with the students coming in and getting seated in the audience. The atmosphere was already buzzing with energy. Everyone seemed to be excited.

The students showed their American pride as they stood for the pledge of allegiance and the national anthem. The students were excited as they clapped and cheered as our principal, Casey Stratton, took the mic. He began by welcoming the freshmen students to the school as well as giving everybody a warm welcome to the new school year.

The students' cheering echoed throughout the gym as class competitions began. (For those of you who don't know, Class Competitions throughout the year count towards each classes Color Rally score in March.) Not only had they put the classes to compete, but also assembled the teams according to clubs and organizations. This allowed clubs to compete against other clubs such as SHOE vs. FFA or Robotics vs Interact.

Sports & Clubs

The sports and clubs were introduced after the class competition ended in a video. In the video, they showed the seperate sports and clubs introducing themselves via the Lip Sync video.

The camera panned over the football team, to the soccer team, to the tennis team, to the swim team, volleyball and so on. The camera then panned over and began to introduce the clubs at school such as the Robotics cub, ASL, FFA club, Art Club etc.

They showed all students in the sports and clubs welcoming everyone who wished to be a part of the amazing activities Covina High School has to offer. Once the video ended one of the MC's for the rally, Carlos Paez, and our ASB President, informed the students that Club Rush would be happening after the rally in the quad.

Cheer & Dance

The cheer and dance team stole the spotlight at this rally. Their performance was amazing and their calculated moves were enough to entice students into joining these teams. The cheer team made everyone participate in the school cheer with a video on a new cheer. Two cheerleaders stood on the stairs in each section and modeled how to do the new cheer. The audience cheered along and the rally continued.

Ending

Towards the end of the rally the class yell began and each class competed to be the loudest. They began with the Freshmen who were a bit clueless as it was their first rally. Sadly, only a few of them cheered. Then it was Sophomores turn. They were loud and so were the Junior. But of course, the loudest and most spirited of them all was the Class of 2019.

Then, the lights turned on and everyone gathered around their close friends, linked arm in arm, and began to sing the Alma Mater, a staple of the school and of our rallies. After, the bell rang and we left the gym, resounding from the energy and pride of yet another successful rally.
