Budgies, or Budgerigars, are a type of parakeet and are one of the smallest ones. They have really nice colors like green and blue and can be found as pets anywhere. Since they are in the parakeet family they are smart. For example, they can learn to speak, do some tricks, and even get potty trained. They are a little scared at first and will need a lot of attention to get used to the owner and gain trust.

These birds are surprisingly cheap. They go for around $10-$15 dollars each and are easy to breed, but are not recommended for the inexperienced. As with every pet, their cages need to be cleaned in order to stay sanitary, but Budgies are small and require less work than other, larger, species of pet birds. Plus, Budgies love to clean themselves, especially in bird baths.

These birds need at least three hours of attention a day. If they are with another bird, they require less because the birds will play with each other and give each other attention. Budgies are a great starter pet for bird lovers because they are relatively low maintenance and have a lot of personality.
