Quad construction over the summer. Now, the artificial grass is partially laid.

Covina High School is going through big changes with the quad, office, and farm being renovated. Since the end of last year, our school has been under construction. One thing that every student can agree on is that the construction needs to end.

Every day the hallways are crowded with groups of students blocking walkways. Students are forced to walk around the construction at risk of being late to class. Also, students are forced to walk the same paths to class creating more foot traffic and making it harder to get to class. In addition, when the construction workers are actually working, the noise can be overwhelming, even inside of classrooms.

The worse part of all this construction is the seating at breaks and lunch. With a large area of our school blocked off, only some students have the luxury of having their own bench or table. Lots of other students are forced to stand or sit on the floor. To help with this, administration has opened a small area near the cafeteria, but even with this additional seating, places to sit are still scarce.

The construction is scheduled is to be finished around the end of winter break. Students will be forced to put up with this for a couple of more months. The quad is the biggest change for our school, but not the only one. The office was also renovated as well. The whole office was reworked with new doors, windows, a new floor plan, and arching horseshoes.

The office used to be dull and lackluster, but now you wouldn’t be able recognize it as what it used to be. Now the office is bright and vibrant with a lively new atmosphere. The addition of the arching horseshoes and the burgundy colors all throughout the office show off our school colors and compliment each other.

All of these new additions were sorely needed, giving our school a more modern look instead of being trapped in the last decade or two. In next couple of months, our school will have a whole new look that will hopefully last for years to come, so that students and teachers can enjoy the new campus for the next few decades.
