Dimension W Review

Living in a world where technology has opened the door for an infinite energy supply, unfortunately, gives way for a more dangerously advanced underworld. A genius scientist created a means to access a separate dimension called Dimension W and created battery-like devices to harness the energy from it called coils. Detective Kyoma Mabuchi works for the government as a collector of illegal coils. The protagonist of the anime, Kyoma carries a troubled, mysterious past that’s unraveled as the show progresses.

Known for hating coils and all technology around them, Mabuchi is a stoic and skilled hunter. On a mission retrieving illegal coils, he meets a partner he’s reluctant to undertake. Mira Yurisaki is an android with incredible abilities and complexity built by the inventor of coil technology as his daughter and helps save the world. Under unfortunate circumstances, Kyoma is given responsibility for Mira that slowly teaches him a new perspective.

This anime sheds light on the fear of technology within humans, not knowing what could happen if the wrong technology got into the wrong hands. With infinite access to energy, crime advances along with society. This exciting tale depicts not only the consequences of this world but also its beauty.
