So many viewers grew up alongside iCarly and its characters that when Paramount+ announced they would be reviving the Nickelodeon series, fans were very excited. A few details about the reboot have been revealed including new characters introduced into the show.

New Characters?

The majority of the original cast will be rejoining the cast like Miranda Cosgrove (Carly), Nathan Kress (Freddie), and Jerry Trainor (Spencer). With the new storyline of the show, two new characters have been confirmed to enter the show. The first being Harper, played by Laci Mosley, who is Carly’s roommate and best friend. The second is Jaidyn Triplett, playing Millicent, Freddie’s step-daughter.

OG Characters?

Jeanette McCurdy (Sam) revealed that she will not be returning for the role because it caused her a lot of pain and trauma. The actress went through negative experiences while working on the sitcom, along with being embarrassed of playing her character. She felt unfulfilled by the roles she played and felt like it was cheesy. Now, McCurdy has quit acting in order to pursue writing and directing. Noah Munck (Gibby) has yet to confirm his return to the show.

What is the reboot going to be about?

The 13-episode season picks up nearly 10 years after the show ended and follows Carly Shay and her friend’s life as they navigate work, family, and love while in their twenties. The original series followed Sam, Carly, and Freddie as they created a webshow for and about kids their age while dealing with everyday problems and adventures. The series finale left off with Carly departing for Italy with her father, Colonel Shay, and saying goodbye to her brother and friends. Jeannete McCurdy would go on to star in a spin-off series, Sam and Cat, alongside Ariana Grande who starred in Nickelodeon series Victorious.

Who else is involved?

The comedy will not be returning to Nickelodeon as it was previously on. Instead, the show will be streaming on the new service Paramount+, and will be one of the first shows on the platform.

Miranda Cosgrove will serve as Executive Producer, while Jerry Trainer and Alissa Vradenburg serve as producers. The pilot is directed and executive produced by Phill Lewis, who many audiences might also know as Mr. Moseby on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.

The reboot will not include the original producer, Dan Schneider, as he is facing numerous allegations.

When is the Show Coming Out?

Production began the week of March 22 and the series is set to premiere on Paramount+ this summer.
