Just this weekend, Netflix released a new movie onto their streaming platform called “Finding Ohana,” and the movie centers on a New York family, Pili, Ioane, and their mother, Leilani, visiting their grandfather in Hawaii. But their family trip, which they thought would be normal, doesn’t last for long. The reason this movie attracted my eye out of the many Netflix movies was that when I first saw the movie cover, I was instantly interested due to how mysterious, action-packed, and adventurous. When I got to finally watch the movie though, it proved me correct. It was a very heartwarming film and also had moments where you would be on the edge of your seat.

In “Finding Ohana,” the movie shows Pili and her brother stumbling across newly found treasure maps, which leads them to create new friends and onto a journey to solve the mystery from the original maps. It even included romantic themes for the teenagers to enjoy the movie even more if they didn’t already. The adventure leads them all to learn about their connection to their large family tree, including many cultural themes within it all. The movie isn’t just about New York kids managing in a place like Hawaii, but also finding themselves. The movie has many “Indiana Jones,” related themes, and they even had an actor who appeared in both movies, “Indiana Jones” and “Finding Ohana.”

In conclusion, “Finding Ohana,” is a great way to spend your 2 hours because of its mix of comedy, romance, heartwarming moments, and it’s also a way to get to know a bit more about Hawaiians’ history as well. The soundtrack is also a thing to be excited for as it has many songs to fit with the moment, and as the title says, the main characters are truly finding “family.”
