4/29/20Hannah Mejia is a junior at Covina High School who has been exemplary in road cycling. First beginning in 2016 at the age of 13, Hannah first explored the sport when she realized just how free and adventurous it made her feel. She went on to place 3rd in the 2016 Citrus Sunday - Junior Omnium Stage Race - Omnium and 2017 CRIT Women Junior 13-14 Open. Continuing to improve, she made 2nd in the 2018 and 2019 SCNCA Individual Time Trials Women Junior 15-16. Hannah owes her inspiration to her family who share her love of road cycling, motivating herself to make them proud. Although her sport’s community is smaller than most sports’, that just makes her appreciate the family she has in it all the more. With experience from over 50 races, Hannah plans on continuing to bike in college, and wants to see where the road takes her. Over the years, she has found inspiration in many professional female cyclists, including Alexis Ryan, Anna van der Breggen, Chloé Dygert Owen, Coryn Rivera, Ella Harris, and Megan Jastrab. A few of Hannah’s favorite professional male racers are Chris Froome, Egan Bernal, Peter Sagan, Remco Evenepoel, and Quinn Simmons. Still staying in shape through strength exercises during this time at home, Hannah combines that with her love for her sport to keep working hard. She is hoping to race again soon, and looks forward to the great future that lies ahead of her.
