Bricks bearing the name of an official were not present before the New Kingdom but were prevalent during the 18th dynasty and declined in usage after the 21st dynasty. However, there are once again instances during the transition between the 25th and 26th dynasties. Raw bricks stamped with the name of private individuals are infrequent in all historical periods. However, both Padiamunopet from TT 33 and Montuemhat from TT 34 possessed stamped bricks. Thus, it denotes that they shared a common workshop culture (Colin 2021b).
Regarding the hiding of seal impressions in the pylon due to the deep placement of the bricks, Colin states that during the emergence of this practice in the construction workshops of Ahmose I at the beginning of the 18th Dynasty, the authorities accountable for the construction of public monuments had extensive knowledge of the harm that future generations could cause to the buildings. The removal of bricks from previous eras and their replacement with others, often in the name of new kings had long been a common practice. It is possible that one benefit of stamping was to ensure the deceased beneficiary's name persisted within the walls. Egyptians at that time anticipated the possibility that future authorities may transform the architectural landscape of the necropolis, at the expense of previous generations, once family and institutional memory has faded (Colin 2021b).
This seal impression may have been stamped solely on the bricks and not on the cones. For more about the same type, visit here.
