Date: T. III (Eichler 2000: 250)
Length: --
Colours: White slip on the face and side surface of the cone but there also is a red at the side of the base (Goddard 2012: '1951.7').
Findspots:
Unknown examples from the north-west of TT 106 (Collins 1976 [JEA 62]: 36).
Two from the court of TT 21 (one of which is a brick) (Ibid.: 38).
A brick and a cone of this and # 367 probably from TT 112 (01-216 in Davies's notebook).
Two probably found by Jelf (= from Dra Abul Naga, where he excavated. Ibid).
Remarks:
The ascribed owner is identical to that of # 367.
From the findspots, it can be concluded with a high degree of certainty that both # 367 and # 491 were produced for TT 251. However, the cones do not share the same design, although the handwriting of both cones is similar, suggesting that they could have been created by the same individual. The reason for the need for two different cones and the order of their creation remain unclear. These are matters for further investigation.
