Daressy #: 46
Owner: Amunemhat (tomb undiscovered, perhaps at Dra Abul Naga)
Reasons: --
Transliteration: Hm-kA jmn-m-HAt Hmt=f nbt-pr sAt-jmn mAa-xrw xr nTr aA
Translation: Ka-servant Amunemhat, his wife, mistress of the house Satamun justified before the great god.
Date: --
Length: 2.7 x 8.0 x 7.5 digits (Louvre: AF 11449).
Colours: Red (MFA Boston: RES.72.305); Red traces on the face. Also, some have a very red face and others have white parts (01-042 in Davies's notebook)?
Findspots:
50 from A. 1. Four of them are bricks, each with two seal impressions on one side (Gauthier 1908 [BIFAO 6]: 125–128).
One from a well near TT 18 (01-042 in Davies's notebook and 03-056 in Macadam's Red file).
10 from the 'Areal A' at Dra Abul Naga (Kruck 2012: 94).
Remarks:
The owner of A.1 has only been guessed from this cone because it has no inscriptions. However, there is a case where many examples of a variety of unrelated cones were found in one tomb (277 cones of 21 types were found in TT 23 (Collins 1976 [JEA 62]: 34)). Therefore, we cannot say with complete certainty that this cone was made for tomb A. 1.
The IFAO Cairo branch has two examples, one of which is a brick (01-042 in Davies's notebook and 03-056 in Macadam's Red file).
Davies hinted at a possible relationship with the family of the TT 82's owner (01-042 in Davies's notebook).
Macadam suggested reading the first word as Hnky not Hm-kA, referring to Gardiner 1948: 111-113 (03-056 in Macadam's Red file), though I don't agree with this interpretation.
As for the initial word, Macadam suggested reading not Hm-kA but Hnky, citing Gardiner's remark on pp. 111-113 of Gardiner 1948 (03-056 in Macadam's Red file).
