Daressy #: --
Owner: Nakhtsebek (tomb undiscovered, perhaps at Qurnet Murai)
Reasons: --
Transliteration: jmAxy xr Asjr sS mnfyt n nb tAwj nxt-sbk
Translation: Revered one before Osiris, army scribe of the lord of the Two Lands, Nakhtsebek.
Date: A. II - A. III (Eichler suggests the owner to be active during T. III to A. III [Eichler 2000: 315]. The cone must have made later in his lifetime so I suggest the mentioned period).
Length: --
Colours: Red face (01-127 in Davies's notebook).
Findspots: --
Remarks:
Davies bought this cone together with # 144 (01-127 in Davies's notebook and 04-014 in Macadam's Green file).
The ascribed owner is identical to that of # 144.
The dimensions, design, findspots, and handwriting of # 144 and # 174 suggest that the maker of the two is the same and that they were created at the same time. The rationale behind the use of two distinct cones is evident; it is to acknowledge Nakhtsebek's titles that are mentioned in both cones.
A brother of his wife was Nebwaw (the owner of # 63), who was the father of Userhat (the owner of # 415). See Beinlich 1992 [SAK 19] for a presumed family tree of the owner. For the burial chamber of Nakhtsebek's son, Sebekmose, see Hayes 1939.
