CG 901 is a headless statue from the 18th dynasty and belonged to a certain official called Men, who held the titles of sS mnfyt, sS-nswt, and sS nfrwt (Borchardt 1930: 145). Therefore, it can be assumed that our Meni was the statue's owner. These three titles were also held by Tjanuni of TT 74, who was active during the reign of Thutmose IV, suggesting that both of them lived during the same era.
Previous literature has tentatively suggested that the tomb of Meni is TT 230 (with the first reference being found in 01-177 in Davies's notebook). The owner of the tomb, however, can only be inferred from this cone as the tomb has no inscriptions. Therefore, it is advisable not to assign the cone to the tomb without conclusive evidence.
