Remarks:
The ascribed owner is identical to that of # 279.
A comparison of # 278 and # 279 reveals that the former was created by an individual proficient in written communication, while the latter was produced by an individual with less expertise. It appears that # 278 was created in response to # 279, which was perceived as suboptimal, or that # 279 was created by an individual attempting to emulate # 278. In any case, the order of cone making between these two remains uncertain.
A funerary papyrus housed in the Museo Archeologico di Firenze (inv. no. 3660A) belongs to a certain Senemnetjer, who was active during the reign of Hatshepsut / Thutmose III (Munro 1988: 285). There is a chance that the Senemnetjer named in the papyrus and the owner of our cone were identical individuals, given the rarity of the name. However, it should be noted that the owner of the papyrus was from Memphis, as evidenced by his appellation of Hrj Xnyt n pr ptH and jmj-rA aHaw (Naville 1886: 85; Munro 1988: Tafel I-1).
There is a brick type that is said to have come from Tarif (? 01-172 in Davies's notebook).
