Remarks:
The ascribed owner is identical to that of # 594 and # 597. Amunhotep, kneeling and facing right, praises Re as he rises. Amunhotep, facing left, praises Re as he sets. Like Davies's notion in references # 595 and # 596, it is likely that # 593 and # 594 were placed on the east side of the tomb, while # 597 was on the west (cf. 01-282 in Davies's notebook). Although the tomb to which the three cones were assigned is unknown, it can be assumed that the tomb entrance faced south.
From the inscription, # 593 or # 594 must have been paired with # 597. This means that # 593 or # 594 and # 597 must have been created at the same time. It is unclear why there are two right-facing versions, # 593 and # 594, but only one left-facing version, # 597, exists (at least at present). However, in any case, the handwriting suggests that all three were made by the same person.
Eichler proposed that the owner of this cone may have been the same as that of a pre-Amarna statuette held in Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek (ÆIN 49. cf. Manniche 2000: 115-118). It was also noted that this Amunhotep may be the same individual who has a statue in Cairo (CGC 623 plus its fragments: CGC 855, CGC 965, CGC 1000, and CGC 1012. Borchardt 1925: 169-170, Borchardt 1930: 123, Borchardt 1934: 6, 21, and 24) and a lintel dated to the time of Akhenaten in the same museum (JE 26947. Legrain 1908: 167). For information on the owner of the aforementioned statue fragments, see Gabry 2017 [MDAIK 73].
Auenmüller dated this cone to the reign of Amunhotep III (Auenmüller 2013: 939).
