Windfall Events

Windfalls: test during every third Event phase and use as part of Establish and Improve Cities for next month. The requirements must be met before next Event phase to gain benefits, if not then no benefits occur.

If you have a building, other Event, or location that discounts the buildings below, the discount is applied as a fraction; thus two halves of cost would be quarter cost. No additional benefit is gained from a “free” building, although you may look into building two of a building if one is free.

1. Counterfeit Coinage: Ruler must pay a guild price or -3 penalty to loyalty and 1d4 unrest. Econ. check at -3.

2. Coin Shortage: players must dump 1d6 x 1000gp in coins into the Econ. either by buying goods and services or by buying up debts (same as giving out loans).

Every 1000gp not placed into the markets costs 1 Stab: penalty.

3. Money Lender: an unscrupulous banker has moved into town and is loaning money at usurious rates. Every month he is in business costs -2 Econ. penalty.

This is a job for the Warden. Stab: test to put him out of business.

4. Weights and Measures Fraud: the Warden’s men find one of the regular merchants is using improper weights and measure for his goods. -1 Econ. penalty each month he is in business.

5. Stolen Goods found for Sale: a new merchant has come into town to sell a large amount of stolen goods he acquires from brigands. One time +1d6 BP and permanent

+2 Loyalty if publicly executed, +1 BP and -1 Stab: each month he remains in business.

6. Money Changer: Black Market at half cost if you build a shop and 2 houses adjacent.

7. Cloth merchant from the far south wants to set up a shop: Shop at no cost if you build him and his people a house next to an existing shop or market (including black market).

8. Clockmaker family is looking for a new home: Exotic Craftsman at half cost if you build it adjacent to a Shop and build them a House.

9. Merchant selling jewelry and finery: Luxury Store at half cost if you give his family a Mansion and his servants a House.

10. A famous horse trader comes to the city with his herd and families: Stables for free when you Build adjacent to a Smithy and a House.

11. – 14 Tradescrafters: Baker, candle maker, carpenter, weaver, or mason: Tradesman for free when you build a House.

18. Magic user and his apprentices would like to open up a shop: Magic Shop at half cost when you build a House.

19. Guild of Merchants want to protect themselves from various thieves and shoddy goods counterfeiting as from their shops. Guildhall at half cost if next to a Market

(including a Black market) and when you build a House.

20. The Order of Arcane Illumination wishes to experiment and do research on the strange waters of the Area. Academy at half cost if you build it next month.
