=============== CIVITAS MUERTAS Synopsis: These anti-heroes awake from a long sleep in the midst of an abandoned city. Time has passed by; almost all the factions and politics of the war they were fighting are gone. They must make a place in the rearranged societies. Can they wreak vengeance on their captors? Can they recapture lost glory? (see the roster here) Current Events: (Sessions'11):

16 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

Bored and feckless, surrounded by a council filled with newbies, Chikovski was not ready when a Kill-Team led

by the Arch-Confessor of the Witchlands showed up a death warrant. The ghost put up a valiant fight but knew the days of prophecy had come. He was killed and forced into his coffin again to reform. But the tricky confessor had the entire gravesite moved over to Big Brown, the volcano, and Chikovski went onto the final plane, never to rise again.

-

15 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

Refugees from the Southern War Front flood into Regnas Muertas. Broot the Ghast is sent to deal with them, but priests of the refugee's religion, the Fire God, burn him away, and sanctify the foundation of a new shrine with his ashes.

-

14 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

The only other person who knew Rhaegar's life story shows up in disguise, and challenges him to a rigged duel. Staked down, the prince is carried far to the West and buried in a secret cave under the Isle of Fright, further adding to its haunted reputation.

-

13 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

War has engaged nearly all realms on the southern half of the map. The Scarlet King's agent have done their work well, fomenting rebellions. Von Rhunsted dispatches himself south to put an end to all this nonsense, and cuts a wide swath of "peace enforced by death" heading straight south from the Capital. His troops killed nearly everyone in Pon, Moonrune, Greystaff, Kelghar and down the continent all the way to Irongate, where it finally took a quad of Efreeti to end the madness.

-

12 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

In what can only be described as madness possibly brought on by all the drugs he had done in his long life, Claudio Giovanni wrote an epic musical, starring a prostitute whom he had turned into a banshee a while back. On the night of the first performance, as he played the finale, she sang out, and he transferred musically his life force into her, returning her to normal flesh and real life, and ending his existence on this plane. His spirit does manifest nearby and harmonizes however, whenever a brave musician plays any of the music from that ill-starred opera.

-

11 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

Roth met his end on the battlefields of Muetar, where a paladin gave his life to spring a trap, and opened a gate for The 301 (celestial einheriar squad) to ambush him on all planes at once.

-

10 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

Civil war comes to Regnas Muertas, as the council is split into two camps, unable to decide what to do on the matter of the behavior of Rapidograph the Treasurer. He had been been divvying up the treasure fairly (truly) for years, enriching the council as much as the guilds, the army, the church and other institutions of the kingdom. The floating head was banished (for doing right, no less) and never seen again.

-

09 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

Gerpah the Priest wasted his existence pursuing the love of Kehexxia, the Succubus of the Ten Veils.

-

08 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

Serrengrave the Wight was number 25 on the list of "Twenty Five Evil Knights" that a paladin had to kill to achieve his sainthood.

-

07 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

Nolph the Flesh Golem was crushed utterly and ground into powder by the crash of a Castle sized Flying Machine that the PC party had engaged.

-

06 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

Quoi the Ghost druid manifested into her flesh to investigate a gem that Zandalar had found and it transformed her into solid platinum.

-

05 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

Slate the Chalkboard fell down an oily black chute. The trap had been laid by Beholder Death Squads who still hoped to kill the Undead Council.

-

04 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

The new religion of the Fire God kept influxing into the land. The Depilator was irked by this to no end, and constantly fomented evil against those clerics. But they were able to banish him to his home plane for 99 years with a special ritual. But of course a minor civil war started because of these on the council who favored the Fire God versus those who favored the dark ways of the Nameless One.

-

03 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

Menongehela the Necromancer botched a ritual, and sucked himself and 7 vital hexes of the realm ( near the fortress, thankfully not the Capital Region) into Gehenna. The lava and rocks that replaced the land were mineral rich, but it wasn't worth the destruction and confusion.

-

02 DEC 11 - END-GAME:

Sac-O-Parts functioning wore down. After a while he was just a talking skull. Even later all the could do was moan. He was eventually mounted as a warning beacon on Trazig Castle gate.

-

01 DEC 11 - GAME FINALE BEGINS HERE :

After a grueling battle with 20 Night-Stalkers, the team had to go back to the capitol to rest up and regroup. While they were reorganizing, messengers from north section came, warning of floodwaters rising. Soon they had lost 7 hexes of recently claimed lands on the north border. Zandalar went up to solve the problem with his vast elemental control magicks, but was lost in the struggles, but earned the respect of the kingdom, and helped hundreds of citizens relocate and saved thousands of gold pieces for the coffers.

--

16NOV11 - Kingdom Turn - Much building and success. Most all the endeavours of the kingdom bear fruit.

.

10 NOV 11 - Finally solved the problem in Hex A29. It was a dragon. Chonoxian was the Keeper of th Eternal Flame, a brass dragon. Prince Rhaegar has ascended to full vampire status. Von Runsted has acquired a rod to expand his fireball abilities.

The group leaves the hex of the Flame Shrine to Kakatal, all suffering a curse except Runsted, since he worshiped the "correct" diety. The kingdom will build a city in the far corner of the hex from the shrine to accomodate travellers.

3 NOV 11 - The group negotiates a treaty with the hamadryads, leaving them their hex in exchange for hunting rights. This makes the sixth such effect so far. They also absorb the towns of Perfnancel and Grafner, by dealing with the mayors of each. Also they hunted down the Mist Wolves, claiming many pelts.

27 OCT 11 The group had to kill off a crazy priest who lived alone in a farm hex. He worshiped the right gods, but in a thoroughly demented and demonic manner, such that he had ruined the village and driven everyone off. Also nearby lived some evil fey who dug graves as a craft, much like leprechauns make shoes. The players arranged to have all bodies not otherwise needed to be sent here for "proper" burial.

26 OCT 11 - Steering Committee Session: Claiming More Hexes

2O-0CT11 - Rumors of a large reptilian monster had surfaced even before the scouts had confirmed that a metallic dragon lived in a nearby county. This will not stand, for the expansion of Civitas Muertas will eventually bump heads with the dragon, so why not head him off right now ? So our un-heroes head on down (Lich, Ghast, Ghost, Ninja, Bard, Vampire, Death-Knight and the Skull as rear guard) Assisting the Copper Dragon Dereklorenzon were some salt mephit hordes. Surprisingly, three nalfeshnee were there assisting in the fight. Eventually all the monsters were slain and the treasure divvied up. The dragon's journal revealed that the nalf. were not asked for, but some help had been sent, and from some political source. Also a portrait of a gentleman was found as well as odd alchemical items.

-

13-OCT11 - Exploring another hex, the gang finds the source of the fey who had embarrassed their scouts last month. It seems a gang (horde) of pixies had been learning from an artifact. In there language it was called the "sleeping Dragon" although those are slang terms, as it was neither alive nor draconic. Long story short it was a hovering monolith dedicated to, orpossibly crafted by Tri-Jestic the god of magic in Minaria. x,

12-OCT11 - First Army of the Muertas Defeats the Rebellion of Trazig, cementing their position for now in the Barbarian northwest.

Kingdom Turns: claimed hexes. Immun-Drak returns, Shucassam Trade, Intrigue Starts.... Invited to Party at Mount Zand.

06-Oct-11 - Had to sort through the bombs and traps left by the Tu-en-Rin to further guard the phylactery. Also on the site were a body of one of Zandalar's male descendants, who apparently was a marshal of Muetar, and had gotten the phylactery via some deal with the Radiant Order.

29-Sep-11

Fought the Tu-en-Rin that guarded the site where Zandalar's phylactery lay. She cast loads of high level spells, and had Celestial Rocs, Celestial Eagles, and Lantern Archon hordes to assist. But to no avail, the party eventually killed everything

22-Sep-11 - Cleared the hex with the Inkvine grove and the Necro-Citadel that dated from the same time as the Leper-King.

Killed off some Violet Soldiers of the Radiant Order. Players included (Broot, Rhaegar, Runsted, Zandalar, Chikovski, Roth and Giovanni)

Went in force to the town of Trazigger Gateway. and established their trade mission there. 11 of the 12 barbarian tribes agreed.

Kingdom now stretches to 20 hexes.

15-Sep-11 - Killed the Slime Mage and his elder oozes that controlled this one hex. Oddly enough he had all the same goals as the PCs, but was too bat-shyte crazy to pull it off.

O8-Sep-11 - The PC party slays the final two giants in Minaria, sadly without ceremony, negotiation, and without much note. Just another notch on the XP belt it seems.

They turned down the Black Hand's offer for the corpses, probably because she delivered the request for them via The Jester, who had squirreled himself

amongst the serving girls the giants had enslaved.

O1-Sep-11 - Began vengeance kill of the Termino Giant Clan, the last living giants on Minaria. The PC Party killed off all the henchmen and troopers (all giants) and next week our heroes must battle with or negotiate with the king and shaman of the death giants.

31AUG11 - Kingdom [phase: Built up to 12 hexes, lost cleric to ethereal vortex

August 24th, 2O11 - killed off vampire clan

August 17th: Festival & Feyr : The funeral for the Leper King was attended by many, almost all the citizens, all the main characters, and all the major NPCs were there. Undead elephants overran the marketplace at the conclusion of the funeral rites. Apparently the Leper King had rebuked and slain elephants there one too many times. (players were Lich, Ghost, Bard (Craig, Bob, Avery) Big party was had, some diplomatic recognition was gained. Immer; Rombune, Hothior, Elvenland, Dwarfland, the Trolls and the Black Hand . all sent reps to the funeral, as well as the Trazig Horde sent an observer. (Muetar, Pon, Mivior, and Shucassam, and the IST were all absent, though invited. The crew needs to send an embassy to the lands with which it wants to deal. The Black Hand herald seemed to be more of a jester than a diplomat, although the Troll visitor was apparently THE trollish ambassador. Then the players went out tot he Dolomite Coal Mines to investigate the problem there. Turns out a major colony of Feyrs were living there, and had killed all the miners, were ravaging the trade road, and had imprisoned an elven sorceress for a while. They freed her and sent her home as their ambassador. l

August 10th: ( Players were Avery, Graves, Craig, Bob, PJ and Charles the new guy ) The Lich, Death Knight, Ghoul-Ninja, Bard and Ghost, Vampire.

They bluffed the water-guardian that patrols the moats of the region, now they can command it. They dealt with the odd cleric from Doantel, the farming village.

They cleared off the will-o-wisps haunting a moor, found the dwarven wine casks, took the decorative floating fish, and destroyed the ghost-sword

and then The Depilator appeared.,

August 3rd: Well, obviously we killed the Leper King, Only three players this week due to Gen-Con (Ogre-Mage, Bard, Death Knight) They met the cultists of the Ancient Ruler, since Quoi suggested it. When noegotiations reached an impasse with him regarding kingship of the region, he drained extra strength from his followers and challenged the Death Knight to a duel, which the LK lost. The Pcs arranged for him to have a funeral, in one month, and messengers were sent to all nearby kingdoms to observe the passing of this monarch. The burial will hopefully be seen as a time of transition and recognition of a new governance in the Hunger Hills region. Ten skeletons arrived to follow Zandalar, Ten spirits arrived to follow Chikovski, and a squad of various undead showed up to recognize and follow Von Runsted.

;

July 28th The group, larger yet, finishes up the dungeon. They cut a deal with the Draco Lich, they slay the Devil-Lich, they use a limited wish to recover her items.

They meet the shade named Quoi, they watch the Draco-Lich leave to find his servants to take back home his treasure, they hear of the leper king.

they christen their new town the Civitas Muertas. They are in the Garden district, and they have built a Temple and Academy for free from the ruins of the crypt.

They name the district to the south as Tabula Rasa, with a dual meaning: It is a clean slate for building new things, and in the future it will remind all the new

citizens that they too can start over here in Civitas M.

Dramatically, and for no discernable reason, ten ancient skeletons claw up out of the ground, with weapons and armor, and start following Zandalar (Craig)

also, ten spirit materialize from the nearby area and start following Chikovski (Bob).

July 14th, 2011 : The "Night of the Living Dead" group has to back-track a tad, re: the Crypt of the Devil-Lich

Since the PCs had bargained with the Draco-Mummy for passage, they trudged back upstairs to see if

anything of value had been unnoticed in previous rooms. About 4 chambers had been unexplored,

and they found the previous "good guy" group that had died, and therefore looted. Also Zandalar & Chivovski

encountered the Intelligent Ruby.

June 30th, 2011 : The PC group plunges further into the Crypt of Chalychia, the Devil-Lich

Death Knight - - Chopped up the demons that were summoned to protect the phylactery

Dirgesinger - - debuffed the summoned demons into oblivion, and spoke at length with the mummified dragon

Lich - - looted the laboratory, befriended Slate the intelligent chalkboard.

Ghost-Ogre - - carried the PCs across the large room to to trap door at the TOP of the column

They finished level 2 (with some bypasses, and started on level 3), There was a hallway that spelled out the lich's name in lights. So the PC lich says he never wants to get that crazy.

June 16th, 2011 : The PC party delves further into the Crypt of the Devil Lich.

Continued assault on the 2nd level (of 3) Crypt Whipped up in the Dire Sharks and blew up the Rainbow Mephits. In an unexpected move, Negotiation and Diplomacy were attempted with an NPC. ; And in an unexpected development, it worked. The pair of Vampires from level 2 were freed and bypassed, in exchange for solid info on the Queen Devil-Lich. Everyone advanced to 16th level (or so) Everyone agrees the Thief is a necessary evil in the dungeon party. Most of the conversations take place in Lloroi, the ancient empire tongue. Devil Lich has been scrying the PC party off and on, as Non-Detection permits. They learned that the Cake is a Lie! Seemingly the sword of the quest is not a boon, but the Lich's phylactery. The players planned on disintegrating the 4 or 5 pieces of the sword that they had.

Players this week:

  • Death Knight - - crawled up the wall with his bare claws
  • Dirgesinger - - spoke at length with the vampire, told her the bad news politely
  • Lich - - figured out the unseen servant trap
  • Ghast-Rogue - - did not fall in the acid room.
  • Ghost-Ogre - - dance of death with the Dire Sharks
  • Vampire Black-Guard - - came out of torpor, carried other members over traps with spider climb and 24 STR.

June 2, 2011

Broot, Chikovski, Rhaegar, Claudio, Zandalar, and Gunther continue the dungeon delve, they must find the bottom, and find the curse targets. They explore traps of the Flint Golem, and the Watery Grave of Sharks. Nolph stood guard over the 1000 Prophets.

May 19th, 2011

Zandalar, Rapidograph, Broot, and Chikovski re-gather at the mouth of the Crypt of the Devil-Lich.,

they must do something before the curse over takes them. They have one week before the first effects will be felt.

Feeling the need for more firepower, they dig up Gunter the Death-Knight, Rhaegar the Vampire and Nolph the Golem.

They chance up Claudio the Bard, who is nearby looting in the ruined city.

The group has lost track of Serrengrave the Wight, who announced he was exploring the canal system of the dead city;

and on the promise of a loot share, arcane knowledge, and glory, the Bard joins the group.

All the others are united in the cause by heritage (both political & curse-wise).

Rapidograph takes custody of Brother Mikolas, a vampire staked a few weeks ago, and is going to both guard the area,

and attempt to parley with Dang-Wa, since they now realize that both of the men are from the same Monastic Order, the Radiant Sun.(Ruby Chapter)

They re-enter the dungeon, quickly reviewing the rooms they had looted from before. (Circular Death Trap, Hall of Statues, Old Throne, and the Library)

Rhaegar controls the Librarian, and they wring much useful info from him (poem, Devil-Lich, bad books, good books)

Then they set off to find the cure for the common curse. They breeze by the black ooze trap, and find the huge room.

Several hundred sages & prophets are imprisoned in a magic room. where the Devil-Lich tried to build a prophet engine.

Then the players began to discuss the future, such as the King-Maker aspects of the campaign.

Second Happenings: (Off-Screen'10)

Zandalar the Lich got sidetracked by Hate, hunted down some old scores and treid to kill the descendants of their captors,

Dang-Wa leaves city if the dead to seeks to re-unite old order, The Radiant Sun monastic order.

First Happenings: (Old Run'06)

900 years ago, there was a war on TRAZIG, the barbarian horde. Mercenaries were hired, then shafted somehow.

Some of the mercs are awakening now, after finding themselves to be undead. They have been entombed in a Necropolis.

Explored ancient ruins, fought White Dragon, Learned of Curse on city, met Dang-Wa, Learned of the Devil-Lich, explored a quarter of her tomb,
