WRITE-UP-1

I had an idea to run a game, didn't know what at first. Had GURPS Illuminati, Men In Black, Spycraft, Warehouse 23 and other gems laying around. So I looked up some players found A LOT OF THEM. Too many in fact.So I also wanted to run a troupe style game, where players don't necessarily sit around a table weekly. I used D20 3.0, mainly based on Spycraft and D&D as the base rules.

Each player met weekly with me, to run over what their character knew, had learned from last week, and what leads to explore for next week.

At the beginning, no characters knew each other. They were not to speak to each other until told that they were found. As far as I know, everyone played that honest, and didnt cheat on player versus PC knowledge.

Another factor in the game was I produced a one-page weekly news rag. It had always had 10 stories, 3 of which were guaranteed to be true (Inside the context of the game). This implied two things:

  • A) each week a player would read the articles, and decide if he wanted to pursue leads on one, or follow his own agenda.
  • B) any strange activities, crimes, or hijinks from this week would end up as fodder for next week's paper.

Each week the new pages were put in the front of a notebook, and the notebook was available at the shop during business hours.
