Objective:
To let students understand shipping markets and operation characteristics, the rights and liabilities of owners and charterers under various charterparty forms, negotiation conditions and main terms of chartering business, the terms and conditions of Gencon and NYPE 93 charter parties.
Course Prerequisites: None
Outline:
This course includes basic concepts of chartering business, interpretation of Uniform General Charter (Gencon 1994) and New York Produce Exchange (NYPE 1993), and case studying of sailing instructions.
Teaching Method:
Lecture. Combines theory and practical application of chartering business, highlight and discuss related key issues of maritime studies, and students are to preview handouts according to syllabus, and present in groups.
