Objective: To teach the students the basic concept of calculus and emphasis will be on applied Calculus
Course Prerequisites: Advanced High School Mathematics
Outline:
Two semester course. First semester generally covers
(1)Precalculus:
(a) Introduction to the concept of calculus
(b) Functions and their graphical representations
(c) Rates of change of a physical entity
(2)Limits:
(a) definition of limits
(b) Methods for evaluating limits
(c) Definition and determination of continuity
(d) One-sided and infinity limits
(3)Differentiation:
(a) Definition of differentiation
(b) Basic differentiation rules, product and quotient
(4) Integration:
(a) definite and indefinite integrals
(b) some elementary integration rules and application of integration
(5) differentiation and integration of elementary functions
Teaching Method:
lecture notes presentation and demonstration of solving skill through examples. Tutorial and remedial lessons will be given once a week by an assigned graduate assistant.

Evaluation: 3 hours Midterm Exam and 3 hours Final Exam.
