Course Description and Goals:

The teaching objectives of this course are to establish students'' understanding of fish species diversity, and to analyze the environmental biology and habitat adaptation characteristics of fish ecology in different waters, as well as the evolution of different taxonomic strata, speciation characteristics and related research methods. Guiding graduate students to study related dissertations.

Week 1 Introduction to ichthyology and course introduction. 

Week 2 Types of fish biodiversity. 

Week 3 Fish swarm ecology in freshwater streams. 

Week 4 Fish ecology in the estuary area. 

Week 5 Intertidal fish fauna and environmental adaptation. 

Week 6 Coral Reef Fish Diversity and Ecology. 

Week 7 Zoogeography and the evolution of life history. 

Week 8 Special Discussion on Evolutionary Biology of Fish. The 9th cycle high school entrance examination. 

Weeks 10-11 Advances in traditional taxonomy and molecular evolution of fish. 

Week 12-13 Selected readings of research papers on fish ecological adaptation. 

Weeks 14-15 Selected readings of research papers on fish evolution. 

Weeks 16-17 Field Research Methods Practicum. 

Week 18 Final exam or final report.
