Course Description and Goals:

This course leads students to understand the development, utilization and changing trends of pelagic and oceanic fishery resources through a guided teaching method. In order to follow the development trend of the industry and shorten the gap between industry and academia based on an international perspective, this course promotes exchanges between industry and university relating to the application and development of marine resources every year, which strengthens students'' practical application and research and development in relevant industries, academia, and universities and illustrates the goal of research-led teaching.

(1) History and development of the pelagic and oceanic fisheries.

(2) Biological characteristics of economically important fishery resources. 

(3) Development and changes of pelagic and oceanic fishery resources.

(4) Management trends of pelagic economically important fishery resources.

(5) Speeches and discussions by professionals from management-related fields. 

(6) Biological characteristics of pelagic and oceanic conservation resources. 

(7) Management trends of pelagic and oceanic conservation resources. 

(8) Speeches and discussions by professionals from industry, government and academia. 

(9) Off-campus filed trips and visiting. 

(10) Thematic research and discussion. 

Schedule Type:  

This course was given with a slideshow to introduce the development, utilization and changes of pelagic fishery resources and the measures proposed by international management organizations for fisheries regulations. At the end of the class, students are required to submit a report on their experience.
