Course Description and Goals:

This course focuses on a variety of great literary works and films with sea as the center or background. In addition to studying themes, characters, settings, narrative techniques and symbols etc., we also discuss the cultural and social background of these works. Students are required to express their own opinions/ideas regarding in-class discussions/oral questions, film oral presentations, and essay questions.
