Objective:
The aim of this course is to train the research students for the common and advanced knowledge for Zoological nomenclature and systematics, specially for systematics of fishes by both morphological & molecular investigation. The course would upgrade to EMI course since 110-1 semester.
Course Prerequisites: None
Outline:
1. General introduction.
2. Main taxa of fishes.
3. Evolutionary history of fishes.
4. Fossil fishes.
5. Mid- term examination.
6. Introduction of marine and estuarine fishes in Taiwan.
7. Introduction of inland water fishes in Taiwan.
8. Gobiology in the world.
9. Molecular systematics for high level phylogeny in fishes.
10. Molecular systematics for microevolutionary history, molecular ecology & speciation in fishes.
11. Final examination.
Teaching Method:
Lecture and discussion with few field exercises.
