Objective: To understand the functions and applications of various mechanisms. To learn how to calculate the degree-of-freedom (DOF) of mechanisms, analyze the displacement, velocity, and accleration of linkage mechanisms. To learn the motion planning and dimension design principles of cam system. To learn the tooth profile design principle of gears and the conjugate theory, the DOF analysis and design of gear trains, the motion analysis of multi-DOF gear train mechanisms. Finally, to establish the fundamentals of mechanism design.
