Objective: Train master students to build a comprehensive view of academic research by presenting articles published in international journals in English
Course Prerequisites: General chemistry and biology
Outline: Teaching materials for this course are research articles with clear sections of introduction, methods, results, discussion, and references.
Teaching Method: Students select several articles based on research interests of their thesis mentors and they discuss with their mentors to choose one article for oral presentation. Students must rehearse with the course instructor at least one time before formal presentation. Students whose presentations are disapproved by the instructor must repeat their presentation.
Reference: No textbook is used for this course.
Course Schedule (subject to change):
1st month: article selection and discussion with mentors
2nd month: preparation of presentation and rehearsal with the course instructor
3rd month: formal presentation
4th month: group meeting
Evaluation:
The performance of each student is evaluated according to the quality of article, the clearness of presentation and the ability to answer questions.
