Field Day Summary
Field Day was at the Country Club Estates Clubhouse on June 27 and 28.
We operated 2A with a Gota Station.
96 people signed in. Few came and went, probably had just over 100.
Weather was spectacular. Clear, sunny, high around 85. Light cold front came through.
Barry Pilkington brought the Fed Ex Communication van and set up next to the GOTA.
Delta Club brought a 10x20 tent for GOTA. It was excellent with plenty of room.
Rand Wilder brought POP-Up camper for CW station.
Hugh Wardlaw brought his motor home for the phone station.
Randy VanVoorhis set up the network for logging.
6 meters was open and several DX contacts were made.
Several satellite contacts were made.
The Guys from Ham Wan came out and set a demo station but had lots of trouble getting a clear shot because of all the very tall leafy trees in the immediate area.
Several extraterrestrial life contacts were made as several attended Field Day this year.
Joe Lowenthal organized and ran the GOTA station. They made lots of contacts and had some new folks on the air.
Channel 3 [Elise Preston] came out and spent about an hour interviewing folks. Got her on radio and she made contact in Florida.
Had excellent coverage on Channel 3 news on their web site and at 10 pm on air news.
We catered most of food and had Firehouse sandwiches for lunch and Leonard’s BBQ for Sat. Evening. Hot dogs left over from FreeFest were available for snacking all day along with Coke products, tea, chips, and candy. We catered for 75, but had plenty of food left over.
Costs were:
Per Joe Wray and Randy Wilder Delta and Tri-State will share costs. Electronic copies of Field Day sign in sheets were sent to Delta and Tri-State.
