Pat (W4OQG) brought a generous supply of assorted wire and coax – free to members. It went fast, and is very much appreciated. Thanks to Pat!

Nina (WB4CHH) announced that both she and Pat participated in the Mississippi QSO party from Marshall, Desoto, Tate, and Tunica Counties. Nina made 44 phone contacts and worked 30 states/MS counties. Pat made 187 CW contacts and worked 35 states/MS counties. They began about 2:20 and ended up at Harrah’s at about 7:15 PM. Congratulations!

Tony (WA4KHN) announced there will be a fundraiser to benefit Lebonheur hospital the end of June. It will be a major food festival and involve many prominent local and national chefs. It is in the planning stages and details will follow.

Dennis (KJ4BDU) brought up a question of whether there is interest in putting together an order for club jackets and club patches for members at a discount rate. Interest was strong, and Dennis will follow up and get the info for the next meeting.

Tony and Lance have obtained a 6-meter GE Mastr II repeater and duplexer from the Knoxville Public utility system. It is a narrow space duplexer (440 KHz), which is extremely rare on 6-meters. Both duplexer and repeater are in extremely good condition. There are no definite plans on how it will be used at this time. This website: has further description and information.

Old Business: SOFTWARE ORDERS for MARA paid members were turned in with payment and are being held for Randy by John Parish. Contact Randy Van Voorhis (W4RMV) with any further questions at: The prepaid orders are expected to be processed and come in for distribution to members hopefully by the May club meeting.

New Business:

FREEFEST update by Tony (WA4KHN) - At this time we're 100% committed on table space inside with waiting list. Still have some outside space left. Keep gathering the cardboard we use to cover the tables. Good News! Lance has a commitment from Sam’s Club (they provided an additional $200 discount on the main prize last year) to help with the cost of food for the concession this year. Main prizes are in and tickets are being printed so they’ll be available for pre-sales again this year. Remember all proceeds are going to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. Tickets will be on sheets at the same price as last year: $1 each or $5 for 6 tickets.

Main prizes are as follows: Two 16 gig iPADs, a 32 inch LCD TV, MFJ-4225 Switching Power Supply, 2 excellent 2-meter mobiles, and $100 gift certificates to Bass Pro, and Restaurant Iris (just voted Best in Memphis 4th year). The table layout is still in process of being finalized.

FREEFEST is April 14th, 2012, the Saturday after Easter. This is the Delta Division Convention and we are still working on some type of Friday night event and you all will be invited. It will be at the clubhouse, and volunteers are needed to make this successful. If you can help, contact Tony at

Program: Silent Auction – a fun time with items from the John Beyer (K3LK) donation.

Motion to adjourn byRay (KJ4DUE), seconded byJeff (AJ4GY) and adjourned by Dennis (KJ4BDU) at 8:15 p.m.

The 2012 “Ides of March” Hamfest by the Reelfoot Amateur Radio Club will be held Saturday, March 17th. Flyers on the sign-in table, website:

Next meeting will be at regular location at Police precinct on April 5, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. This will be the last club meeting before FREEFEST, so there will be planning and volunteer sign-up. The program will be a video about ham radio in the 1940s and World War II.
