Mid-South Amateur Radio Association - Club Meeting Minutes October 20, 2012

Location: Cookout/informal meeting held at the Clubhouse in Country Club Estates, at 2417 Lacosta Drive, Bartlett, TN 38134. Time: 3:00 p.m. til dark.

Attendance: President Dennis Foster (KJ4BDU), Vice President Roger Schlichter (WR4R), Secretary Linda Ware (KJ4ELL), Tony Brignole (WA4KHN), Lance Morris (N4GMT), Ned Savage (KA4BLL), Danny Banks (KJ4FXZ). Attendance: approx 40.

Welcome: Brief, informal meeting called to order by Dennis at 5:20 p.m. Minutes for previous meeting posted on MARA website (maraonline.org) and printed copies, along with (previous) Treasurer’s Report available at sign-in table. Treasurer's Report will be brought up to date for September/October, and made available at next meeting.

Old Business: Club patches, no decisions made as yet. Repeater update.

New Business: John Parish will start taking membership renewal forms and dues for 2013. Forms are available at maraonline.org and at every meeting. Please take the time to fill in the membership renewal form to keep our club records and contact information up to date.

The November meeting will include elections. Slate of nominations of MARA 2013 Officers as posted in Zero Beat as follows:

*Run off for Vice-President position (by secret ballot) between Roger Schlichter WR4R and Ned Savage KA4BLL.

This year’s Christmas party is officially booked for Thursday, December 6th 2012 at Coletta’s at 6:30 p.m. Please begin collecting items for the gift exchange (don’t have to be ham-related), $10 range. The sign-up sheet will be available at the next meeting.

Announcements: Still need volunteers for Saturday, December 1st 2012 St. Jude Marathon, contact Roger wr4r@bellsouth.net. Bartlett Christmas Parade will be the following Saturday, December 8th 2012, contact Dennis kj4bdu@arrl.net.

Program:.The program is a cookout with everyone invited from all the clubs and their guests, enjoying friends, fellowship, and good food, followed by a campfire. This is the night that begins the Orionid Meteor Shower. Special thanks to Tony, Mary, and Lance for all their hard work and gracious hospitality making this a special event for all of us.

Notes: November meeting will be held as a “field trip” in conjunction with a light meal and tour at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. Thanks to Rick Kanschat for arranging it. Details posted in Zero Beat.
