This page was created to help you find some of the many organizations focused on helping communities and the environment through sustainable infrastructure.
Scroll down to find organizations by category, or scroll a bit further to find organizations by region.
The following categories are listed (to the best of our ability) from greater impact to lesser impact.
Industry makes up 24.2% of human derived emissions, meaning that reducing our consumption via the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is more important than ever before!
Scroll down to the Waste section to learn more about waste prevention groups.
Farming and deforestation (which is mostly driven by farm expansion) make up around 18.4% of human-derived emissions. Farming also uses more water than any other activity, while driving the current soil loss crisis, meaning what we eat and grow for food may account for the largest part of our environmental impact.
Transit accounts for around 16.2% of human derived emissions,
ClimateWorks Foundation "connects funders and implementers to build and scale durable climate solutions."
Buildings account for 17.5% of human derived emissions, particularly for heating and cooling.
Did you know that being homeless can force people to produce more pollution to survive. For example people may be forced to burn things to keep warm out in the open where most of the heat is lost to the atmosphere, instead of being able to invest in electric heaters or mini splits which produce only a fraction of the emissions, while walls and curtains would otherwise help insulate and further reduce emissions or waste. Similarly people experiencing homelessness may have reduced options for food and waste disposal, meaning they can't refrigerate left overs to safely eat later, forcing them to chose single-use products instead of reusable/washable products. Organizations that combat homelessness can also help improve a communities ecological impact while elevating the living standards and health of the people they serve.
Via systematic waste reduction and waste prevention, including recycling, upcycling, and downcycling, we can massively reduce various types of pollution including greenhouse gases, save humanity significant money, and even create new jobs!
Plastic Smart Cities "is a WWF initiative that supports a no plastic in nature agenda. Since 2018, the initiative has supported cities and coastal centers in taking bold action to stop plastic pollution, with a goal to reduce plastic leakage into nature by 30% in the near term, and achieving no plastics in nature by 2030."
ClimateWorks Foundation "connects funders and implementers to build and scale durable climate solutions."
Temasek Foundation "We aspire to do good well together, towards a shared future and a healthy planet today and for generations to come.
We actively pilot and catalyse innovative solutions and programmes with partners, harnessing synergies to multiply community impact in Asia and beyond."
Alliance for Health Homes "National non-profit interest organization working to protect children from home environmental health hazards by advocating for policy solutions and builds the capacity of communities to prevent in-home hazards from harming the health of children, their families and all residents."
Idaho
First Nations Development Institute "improves economic conditions for Native Americans through direct financial grants, technical assistance & training, and advocacy & policy."

Siċaŋġu Co "As the economic engine of the Siċaŋġu Lak̇ota nation, Siċaŋġu Co’s purpose is to improve the financial and social well-being of our tribal relatives. We are guided and inspired by the 7Gen Vision, which imagines the type of world we’d like to see our descendants living in 175 years from now. We ask, How do we live today to create a healthy, just, abundant world for our grandchildren?
Grounded in our ancestral and cultural wisdom, with a deep understanding of the profound challenges faced by our people, Siċaŋġu Co is working towards Wicozani, or “the good way of life” for the Siċaŋġu Oyate – holistic health, economic self-sufficiency, cultural revitalization, sustainable housing, food sovereignty, climate resilience, and shared, lasting prosperity.
Siċaŋġu Co draws strength from the words uttered by many relatives who have gone before us: “Nake Nula Wauŋ” – I am always prepared, anytime, anywhere, for anything."
