Ashley's Creamy Seafood Chowder, BY JELES

INGREDIENTS:

1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined (tail on it off)

1 can of Chopped Clams (or clams in the shell 24)

A package of Mussels (optional)

6 slices bacon chopped (optional)

1 medium turnip cut into ½-inch cubes

1 red or orange pepper (chopped)

½ cup chopped onion

3 tsp, of minced garlic

3 cups chicken broth

1 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

1 tsp Cajun seasoning

1/2 tsp of Mrs. Dash Salt free (herb seasoning)

Salt and pepper

1 bay leaf

Parsley for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS:

Medium Heat

I use my Dutch oven but you can use a large Pot

Cook the bacon until crisp

Remove bacon and set aside

Leave the bacon fat in the pan

Add the turnip, onion, pepper and saute until the onion and pepper is tender *(the turnip will take longer)

Stir in the garlic and cook a couple minutes

Pour in the chicken broth and simmer (about 10 minutes or so)

Add bay leaf

Stir in the cream

Add the clams, mussels, shrimp and shimmer until the shrimp is pink and cooked through

Add the Cajun seasoning, Mrs. Dash and season to taste with salt and pepper

*Remove bay leaf before serving

FINISH it off with the bacon and chopped parsley before serving
