Le Métèque
Avec ma gueule de métèque
De Juif errant, de pâtre grec
Et mes cheveux aux quatre vents
Avec mes yeux tout délavés
Qui me donnent l'air de rêver
Moi qui ne rêve plus souvent
Avec mes mains de maraudeur
De musicien et de rôdeur
Qui ont pillé tant de jardins
Avec ma bouche qui a bu
Qui a embrassé et mordu
Sans jamais assouvir sa faim
Avec ma gueule de métèque
De Juif errant, de pâtre grec
De voleur et de vagabond
Avec ma peau qui s'est frottée
Au soleil de tous les étés
Et tout ce qui portait jupon
Avec mon cœur qui a su faire
Souffrir autant qu'il a souffert
Sans pour cela faire d'histoires
Avec mon âme qui n'a plus
La moindre chance de salut
Pour éviter le purgatoire
Avec ma gueule de métèque
De Juif errant, de pâtre grec
Et mes cheveux aux quatre vents
Je viendrai, ma douce captive
Mon âme sœur, ma source vive
Je viendrai boire tes vingt ans
Et je serai prince de sang
Rêveur ou bien adolescent
Comme il te plaira de choisir
Et nous ferons de chaque jour
Toute une éternité d'amour
Que nous vivrons à en mourir
Et nous ferons de chaque jour
Toute une éternité d'amour
Que nous vivrons à en mourir.
The Foreigner
With my face of a foreigner
Of a wandering Jew, of a Greek shepherd
And my hair to the four winds
With my eyes totally waterlogged
That give me a look of a dreamer
That never dreams very often
With my hands of a petty thief
Of a musician and of a prowler
Who has been caught in so many gardens
With my mouth that drank
that kissed and bit
without ever satisfying its hunger
With my face of a foreigner
Of a wandering Jew, of a Greek shepherd
Of a petty thief and of a vagrant
With my skin that rubbed
With the sun of all the summers
and with everyone who wore underskirt
With my heart that knew how to make
Suffering a lot whom has suffered
Without making stories for that
With my soul that no longer has
the least chance for salvation
To avoid the purgatory
With my face of a foreigner
Of a wandering Jew, of a Greek shepherd
And my hair to the four winds
I will come, my sweet captive
My soul mate, my living source
I will come to drink your twenty years old
And I'll become the prince of blood
A dreamer or even a teenager
As you will like to choose
And we will make of everyday
all the eternity of love
that we will live till we die
and we will make of everyday
all the eternity of love
that we will live till we die
LO STRANIERO
Con questa faccia da straniero
sono soltanto un uomo vero
anche se a voi non sembrerà.
Ho gli occhi chiari come il mare
capaci solo di sognare
mentre ormai non sogno più.
Metà pirata, metà artista
un vagabondo un musicista
che ruba quasi quanto dà
con questa bocca che berrà
a ogni fontana che vedrà
e forse mai si fermerà.
Con questa faccia da straniero
ho attraversato la mia vita
senza sapere dove andar
è stato il sole dell'estate
e mille donne innamorate
a maturare la mia età.
Ho fatto male a viso aperto
e qualche volta ho anche sofferto
senza però piangere mai,
e la mia anima si sa
in purgatorio finirà
salvo un miracolo oramai.
Con questa faccia da straniero
sopra una nave abbandonata
sono arrivato fino a te
e adesso tu sei prigioniera
di questa splendida chimera
di questo amore senza età.
Sarai regina e regnerai,
le cose che tu sognerai
diventeranno realtà,
il nostro amore durerà
per una breve eternità
finché la morte non verrà.
Sarai regina e regnerai,
le cose che tu sognerai
diventeranno realtà
il nostro amore durerà
per una breve eternità
finché la morte non verrà.
Il nostro amore durerà
per una breve eternità
finché la morte non verrà.
