Questa canzone fu eseguita per la prima volta nel '69 dalla potente voce di Miri Aloni, solista di un gruppo canoro militare israeliano e fu presto contestata e definita come antipatriottica. Divenne poi l'inno dei pacifisti e fu cantata anche da Rabin sul podio, il giorno del suo assassinio a Tel Aviv, il 4 novembre 1995 ad opera di un giovane fanatico estremista ebreo. Significativamente il foglio contenente proprio le parole di questa canzone, macchiato di sangue, fu trovato nella tasca della sua giacca.

Shir LaShalom (Hebrew: שיר לשלום ) Song for Peace) is a beautiful popular song that has come to be an anthem of the Israeli peace camp. The song was first written in 1969.Miri Aloni was the first interpreter. The lyrics were by Yaakov Rotblit and the melody was written by Yair Rosenblum. The song was also sung at the rally where Yitzhak Rabin was assasinated and is often associated with his assassination and its aftermath in Israeli culture. A copy of the song's lyrics was found on Rabin's body, soaked in his blood.
