There are three ways to create new plan views.
Duplicate an existing plan view. (refer to CREATE A COPY OF A VIEW or SCHEDULE)
Create a clean new Plan view of a level.
Create a Callout (part plan) from an existing plan view.
CREATE A NEW PLAN OF A LEVEL
This method creates a new clean view with nothing hidden, and with no annotation (except grids and references).
Use it if you want to see everything.
Under View tab select Plan Views, then Floor Plan.
The New Floor Plan dialog box opens.
Untick Do not duplicate existing views down the bottom.
Select the level you want a plan view of.
The view will be created.
Before doing anything else RENAME THE VIEW.
In the Properties window:
Rename the view with a prefix of X-yourintitals_ - (e.g. X-BH_plan).
Also change Sheet Series.SH parameter to working.
If Revit pops up a dialog box asking if you want to rename the corresponding level - SAY NO.
CREATE A PART PLAN
A part plan called a Callout in Revit can be created by drawing a box around what you want to appear in the view.
This method will create a reference to the view created in plans.
However if a working Callout is used the reference won't appear in views that are on sheets.
Under View tab select Callout, then Rectangle (Sketch allows you to draw a multi-sided bounding box - but not curves).
Draw the bounding box (if Rectangle pick diagonal corners).
Select the bounding box (not the reference circle).
The view's properties will be display in the Properties window.
In the Properties window:
Rename the view with a prefix of X-yourintitals_ - (e.g. X-BH_plan).
Also change Sheet Series.SH parameter to working.
Next change the floor plan type to Working.
Click on the triangle to right in top box of Properties window.
Under Floor Plan select working. (only select working under Detail View if you intend it to be a detail).
The Callout reference may disappear if you created it in a view that is on a sheet.
However you will find in the Project Browser under working:
which is why it is important to ALWAYS NAME THE VIEWS YOU CREATE.
