You can create a quick and dirty elevation by putting a 2D CAD elevation on to the face of a wall.
Open the CAD elevation and clean it up (delete unwanted items, purge, check insert point etc). Save it.
Create a new Generic Model family.
Go to an elevation view (Front).
Import the CAD file. Place in Current View only, change colors to Black and White, insert Auto - Center to Center.
Move, rotate as required to get the CAD in the right place. (Insertion point is intersection of Center (Left/Right) reference plane and the Ref Level).
Explode the CAD import.
Select all lines. Change their subcategory to Generic Model [projection].
Delete anything you don't want.
Add Reference Planes if required to align once in the project file.
Save As in the project's library, use standard naming convention.
Load the family into your project.
Place it in a plan view. (The elevation lines are vertical so will appear as a single line in plan.)
Put in front of a wall otherwise you will see through it.
Why? Because it is 2D CAD, and that is what CAD is, just a whole lot of lines.
