Multiple files in a folder can be renamed with a single command using a Renaming program.
There are a number of free and paid softwares that can do this.
The preferred one to use is Rename Master.
This is a portable program so can be used without installation (or requiring Administrator privileges).

SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS
First find the folder and files you want to rename.
Easiest way is to drag a file from the folder containing the files you want to rename into the Rename Master file list (drag and drop).
All files in that folder will then be listed.
Alternatively use Rename Master's location bar.
Click on the left triangle to select the drive you want:
Click on the right triangle to select the folder you want:
Keep clicking on the right triangle till you get to the folder you want:
You can click on any triangle to look at the folders at that level.
If you want to go back a folder hit the triangle next to the folder icon and select Move up one Folder (or hit ESC key).
Once in the folder all files will be listed. You can filter the types of files you want to rename.
All files are ticked by default. You can select multiple files and change their tick status, or under Edit choose Check all or Uncheck all:
Hit the New Step button and select the type of operation you want to do:
Depending on which operation you selected options to define what to do appear.
In this case we are doing Replace Name/Phrase.
Type in what is being replaced, then what it is being replaced by. In this case 'A-' is replaced by 'A-CD-'
The results will appear in the file list under the New Name column.
Note that where ever you see a black triangle there are more options.
When it all looks correct hit the Rename button.
The renamed files will show with there new names in the file list (note if you only rename some files they will appear at the top of the file list).
There is an undo button if it didn't turn out as you liked. BUT you must use it straight away. If you do any other operation the undo is lost.
Done!
Hours of tedium avoided.
