PROBLEM:
Elevation References that are not orthogonal show text and text dividing line at an angle.
POSSIBLE CAUSE:
A Revit bug. Revit uses the pointer closest to the angle you are snapping too, then rotates the whole tag to exactly match the angle.
SOLUTION:
Use a specially created elevation tag that has more than 4 pointers.
However, providing more than 4 pointers doesn't guarantee your references will be perfect.
If the angle of your elevation does not exactly match one of the elevation tag's pointer angles the text and line will be slightly off.
In theory you could create an elevation tag with pointers exactly matching the angles in your project - but is it worth it?
If a wall angle changes you will have to edit the elevation tag.
Also keep in mind each different elevation type lists separately in your Project Browser, so you don't want a whole lot of different elevation types based on the angle they point to.
There are some elevation tags with 16 pointers in the approved Library. These have pointers at 15 degree intervals.
If they are not already in your project file they can be found in:
. . .\Revit Libraries\Approved Library\Annotations\References
- ELEV_circle-SingleRef-NonOrtho-pointer 1.8.ANT.rfa
- ELEV_circle-SingleRef-NonOrtho-pointer 2.5.ANT.rfa
- ELEV_circle-SingleRef-NonOrtho-pointer 3.5.ANT.rfa
- ELEV_circle-SingleRef-NonOrtho-pointer 5.0.ANT.rfa
You can tell if an elevation tag is using one of these families if you select it and 16 possible elevations are shown:
To edit an elevation tag, select it, in Properties window Edit Type, Elevation Tag parameter, then change the Elevation Mark parameter to appropriate family.
