What:
Sheet views contain other views and a title block. They are used to created printed output.
Why:
A project can end up with not only literally hundreds of sheets, but sheets belonging to different drawing series. If these are not structured it can be difficult to find particular sheet sets.
How:
By using a mixture of naming protocols and shared view parameters. With standardisation the Project Browser can be sorted using sheet parameters.
Who:
Anyone can create sheets, but they MUST follow the projects numbering protocols and requirements below.
SHEET NAMING CONVENTION
Sheet name in capitals:
e.g. COGEN BUILDING ELEVATIONS, SECTION & DETAIL
SHEET NUMBERING CONVENTION
Note that Revit requires all Sheet numbers to be unique.
Documentation:
The sheet number excluding any stage prefix.
e.g. A-396
Presentation:
The sheet number with PR- prefix.
e.g. PR-396
Sketch:
The sheet number with SK- prefix,
e.g. SK-396, or SK-DD-396
RFI:
The RFI number with RFI- prefix. Pad number with zeros so it is 4 characters long.
e.g. RFI-0096
If there is more than one sheet for an RFI post-fix with full stop and 2 character number.
e.g. RFI-0096.004
SHEET SHARED PARAMETERS
Sheet Purpose.SH = <purpose, e.g. DOCUMENTATION, SKETCH>
Sheet Status.SH = <status, e.g. SUPERCEDED, CURRENT ISSUE>
Sheet Series.SH = <prefix plus number of sheet series, typically first number in series; e.g. 300>
Sheet Subject.SH = <main content subject of view, e.g. Stairs, Site>
Sheet Ref only.SH = tick if sheet contains no views, otherwise <empty>

This is a suggested list. Others can be added for your project, but try and keep the list concise to minimize confusion and overlap.

Sheet Ref only.SH
This is a Yes/No parameter (displayed as tick box).
It is ticked when the sheet is used to represent drawings created using other software (e.g. AutoCAD, Rhino, illustrator).
These sheets act as place setters for including sheets not in the Revit file in Revit Schedules.
