TILED WINDOWS
When you have more than one window open you can Tile those windows so they fill the Revit window.
View tab, Window panel, Tile icon, or keyboard command WT.
But getting windows to tile where you want them to can be tedious. There is a trick you can use to set the order they tile in.
When you have two windows open, if you make a window active by selecting it and then tile your windows View > Windows > Tile (keyboard WT), the active window always moves to the left. In the example below, it will move to the #1 position.
When you have more than 2 windows open the views are laid out based on which order you pick them.
1. First make sure all your open windows are visible, the order will be random.
2. To get the right order work backwards, so if you have 5 panes, you start with picking for the 5th position and work backwards – 4, 3, 2, then 1.
3. Then do tile command View > Windows > Tile, (keyboard WT).
To tile and zoom extends in all the open windows use keyboard command WTZA. (WindowTileZoomAll)
Revit only places the panes you pick. If you have some open that you don't pick, they will stay where they are.
That means you can change the window order of 1-3 without having to pick views 4 and 5.
Below are layouts some for reference:
Note that by default if there are 3 windows Revit splits the left tile into 2.
Therefore if you want to work in the largest window , the largest will be the LAST selected.
Yet if there are 5 or more it splits the right side up.
Same if there are 7.
