Problem:
When placed in a project Floor Plan view a window does not display properly.
Typically the frame and glass are not visible.
Cause 1:
The View Range Cut plane in the plan view or Plan Region does not through the window.
Solution:
If the window is near a reasonable Cut plane (e.g. 1200) edit the Cut plane of the plan view's or Plan Region's properties so it cuts the window.
(If the view's Cut plane is correct, check there isn't a Plan Region that has been made invisible effecting the windows).
Otherwise create a Plan Region over the window with a Cut plane that bisects the window.
Note: Don't draw multiple enclosed boundaries within a single Plan Region. Doing this can effect the way walls are displayed outside of the Plan Region.
Cause 2:
Within the family file the View Range Cut plane in the default floor plan view (Ref. Level) must cut through the window.
This even though the window appears to display correctly in the family file.
Solution:
In the family file edit the View Range Cut plane in plan view (Ref. Level) .
The actual values for Cut plane and height the window is drawn at doesn't matter (as these will change when the window is inserted into a project).
But within the family file the Cut plane in plan view (Ref. Level) must cut through the window.
Cause 3:
Within the family file the Visibility/Graphics Override settings for frame and glass have been set to not display in Plan/RCP views, and there are no symbolic lines to represent the frame and glass in plan.
Solution:
Edit the family file by adding symbolic lines to the plan view to represent frame and glass.
Cause 4:
The geometry of objects in the family file are not drawn parallel. For example the window frame extrusion sketch lines are not parallel.
You can check by trying to place a dimension. Dimensions refuse to be placed if the lines they dimension are not parallel.
Solution:
Open the family file and edit the offending geometry.
