LINE WEIGHT ACTUAL SIZES
When drawings are printed the device they are printed on will effect the actual resultant line width. A low resolution plotter will print thicker lines than a high resolution laser printer.
Converting drawings to PDF and DWF will also effect the actual line width.
Testing has shown PDFs line weights are in increments of 0.846mm (1/30 of an inch), which produces the following actual line widths:
Therefore to achieve different actual line widths the Line Weights in Revit must be at least 0.8465mm apart. For example there will be no difference between 0.18 and 0.20 (both will actually 0.169).
Note that to achieve 0.25mm actual line width you need to use 0.254 in Revit, and for actual 0.5 you need to use 0.51 in Revit.
Testing has shown changing the resolution of PDF printer settings has no effect on actual line widths.
As a guide below is results of printing to PDF and measuring actual widths in the PDF.
Notes:
Tested on Revit 2015.
Tested with PDF-xChange, Bluebeam and Newforma PDF printers.
Measured sizes extracted from placing PDFs in Inkscape.
