Yeager was written by Chuck Yeager about his life as an Air Force
General. The book is a million copy best seller which inspires readers
to continue reading this series and other autobiographies. The book
has many twists and turns.
Yeager is a man with a memory problem that developed from old age. He
always forgets anniversaries, holidays and birthdays. He and his wife,
Julie, were never near each other because of Yeager’s job, being an
Air Force General. He was an eighty-five year old general. Despite his
memory problems, he was a great general and everyone loved him. The
only person to doubt Yeager was his wife. Julie had been thinking of
divorcing him for months. Julie thought to give him another chance
before she followed through with the divorce. She asks him to quit his
job but he just continues to fly planes. Saddened, she continues with
the divorce. It came to Yeager unexpectedly.
Julie pays for the divorce and she forgets about Yeager after being
separated for two months. As for Yeager, he had never got over her.
They were together for thirty years, so being alone was a very sad
thought. He wanted her back but he thought it couldn’t be done.
Yeager had many thoughts on his mind while flying. After Julie
divorced him, he decided to retire. Then he realized that retiring was
what his wife wanted him to do long ago so they could be together, so
he set out to find her.
Filled up with drama, Chuck Yeager takes you though his life of an old
man to show how it can be exiting and also depressing. He makes the
reader wonder and imagine what might happen next.
3 out of 5 stars.
