Fever
Laurie Halse Anderson
Anderson, Laurie. Fever. Simon and Schuster Books For Young Readers. New York, NY. 2000.
Fever is a tragic, depressing non-fiction story by Laurie Anderson. It was published in 2001. This story takes place in Chapel Hill, Tennessee 1978. It is a very well written book because, it keeps the reader wanting more and more.
Jamie woke up one Monday morning with a terrible fever. She stayed home all that week. Her parents were very concerned so they took Jamie to the doctor. He said that she had a sickness called Yellow Fever. Soon the whites of her eyes would turn yellow, and then a couple days later she would pass away. They didn’t have any cure for the sickness yet.
Jamie was shaking she was so scared of what could happen to her. She went to bed terrified of what could or would happen that night. Would she wake up? Or pass away in her sleep? The next morning Jamie did awake. Her parents walked into her room to tell Jamie that the doctor had called early this morning, he said that the test results for the sickness were misdiagnosed. Jamie turned out to be fine. And she could finally live her normal life.
Fever is a good book, for readers above the age of fourteen. This book is a little creepy, mostly because it is braced on a true story. Over all, it is an fantastic book.
3 out of 5 stars.
