Pratchett, Terry. Pyramids. Corgi. Great Britain. 1989.
Pyramids is written by national bestselling author Terry Pratchett. It is the 7th book in the bestselling Discworld series and the first book not connected to any other in the series.
Pyramids is about a boy named Bobert (Bob for short) who gets trapped inside a pyramid and finds a giant mummified potato. He eats it then he turns into a giant living potato that destroys the universe, but he has no control over what he does, because the spirit of the mummified potato controls him.
At first Bob is small. He is about the size of a normal potato but as he destroys things he becomes bigger. First he destroys an ant, he becomes a tiny bit bigger. Then he destroys a path out of the pyramid. By the time Bob gets out he is the size of the pyramids! So naturally he destroys the pyramids. He keeps destroying stuff until he’s as big as the earth! Then he destroys the earth and chews the moon like a gum ball. This continues for a couple million years until he had destroyed the whole universe!
After he destroys the universe he is so big he can see hundreds of universes spread across a infinite number of miles, but on the other side he sees an alien. The alien is the same size that Bob is. It turns out the alien did the same thing that Bob did in his own universe. Then the alien comes and eats bob (since he’s a giant potato).
The alien goes up to the great dragon (ruler of all that is, has been, or ever will be) and challenges him to a fight. “Ha” the dragon laughs, “how dare you challenge me!” Then with a big breath, he burns the alien into nothing.
Pyramids is a very random book that jumps from one place to another. It doesn’t have much to do with pyramids but it’s still very interesting.
