Dragons of Summer Flame is a classic dragon-fighting tale by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. This book is in the series of “Dragon Lance” and is a “New York Times best seller”. Written in 1963, this book has captured the minds of dragon-lovers everywhere.
Dragons of Summer Flame is about two twenty-year old boys, Peter and George, who live in the city of Zadar. Peter is a prince, and George is a young wizard in training. Ever since childhood, they hated each other. There has been many dragons in their land lately, and Peter and George would like to slay the most dragons to show their strength. They race to see how quickly they can slay the most dragons in a time period of two months.
Peter, the Prince of Zadar, uses his skill of the sword, and George, the skill of his magic. They kill about two dragons each day before they return to Zadar. Since this is a long process, they get tired day-by-day. Somehow, they manage to continue. Before the last dragon of their journey, they get very burnt. They decide to work together for the final dragon and restore peace to their town.
Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman have a way of bending time and place to make their story seem real. It leaves the reader in awe wanting to read more. Dragons of Summer Flame is a great book and you should read it too.
