A Wrinkle in Time
Madeleine L'Engle
L'Engle, Madeleine. A Wrinkle in Time. Square Fish Publishing. New York, New York. 2007.
A Wrinkle In Time is a thrilling fantasy and adventure book written by Madeleine L'engle. This is, by far, one of the greatest books in history. A Wrinkle in Time was written in the year of 2003. This magnificent book was awarded the John Newberry Medal. L'engle received the Nobel Peace Prize for her excellence in writing.
A Wrinkle in Time is about two young curious go-getters who were brother and sister named Tom and Lucy. They wanted to do something good for the world but everything they attempted to do ended in failure. Tom and Lucy went through some history books to find when the countries started to become hostile to each other. They decided that the main turning point in history was when the first World War began in 1914.
The two siblings went to their grandmother for guidance. Their grandma was sitting in a chair and reading when the children came to her for advice. The old grandmother simply turned to them and told them a story about the wrinkles of time. She talked about how each wrinkle on a person’s face is connected to a period in time and how you can travel back in time by touching the wrinkle and repeating the magic words "Wrinkles in time can save you a dime." She also talked about how, sometimes, wrinkles from other dimensions could interfere and take you to magical places.
The children said they wanted to go to the beginning of World War I and create peace between the different countries. Their grandma agreed and told the children to grab on to a wrinkle which was on her face. They repeated the magical words and a door appeared in front of them. With no fear, they stepped through it.
A Wrinkle in Time is masterpiece that all ages will enjoy. Each sentence is well written and begs you to read more. L'engal really knows how to make your brain think outside of the box.
