The Battle for Skandia
John Flanagan
The Battle for Skandia is a horrible book about a ranger and his apprentice who are tracking unwanted visitors in their country. The Battle for Skandia was written by John Flanagan in 2010. This copy of The Battle for Skandia is the fourth in the series of Ranger’s Apprentice.
The Battle for Skandia is about a ranger, named Sorin, who is sent on a mission to track down the malevolent Nukpana, who has caused trouble for inhabitants in a forest nearby called Greenwood. The Master Ranger ordered Sorin to bring his ranger apprentice, named Krain. Sorin and Krain went to drive out the Nukpanian.
Early in their journey, Sorin and Krain found a smoldering camp fire surrounded with mostly eaten niknaks, a Nukpanian delight. Sorin and Krain track the footsteps leaving the campfire, but all the footsteps were not Nukpanian. Early the next morning, the two rangers found the camp and saw that they took prisoners from one of the villages they raided in the forest. Sorin and Krain were about to charge in, with their bows ready and free the hostages when, all of the sudden, two much larger beings, called Sherliks, entered the camp. The two rangers stayed hidden and listened to what they were talking about.
Sorin and Krain overheard them talking about a raid on the city where the master ranger lives. The rangers, after listening to all the information, ran back to the city and warned the master ranger. The Master Ranger called over allies from the south to assist them. Two days later, an army of Nukpanian raiders arrived at the town along with several Sherliks.
The book The Battle for Skandia is a terrible book but may still be entertaining to people who like cheesy science-fiction. The Apprentice doesn’t even do anything. The conversations are very awkward and difficult to understand. The book also has a serious lack of emotion.
