Storm Warning
Mercedes Lackey
Lackey, Mercedes. Storm Warning. Daw Books. New York. 1994.
Storm Warning is a mystical volume of hatred and death by the one and only Mercedes Lackey. The book lures people in with it’s bright and colorful cover but, they will be disappointed by the first page.
Storm Warning starts out with a young man named Kale. Kale has royal parents, making him a prince. Throughout his whole life, Kale has been forced to be perfect. Little do his parents know, he is being influenced from the outside and transforming into a criminal mastermind.
Kale can’t take one more second of pretending to be a well-mannered royal. He leaves is a hurry with the royal pegasus and a book about swords and cannons. Meanwhile, Petunia, the servant has a secret. She can change into a cat. She heard all of his plans and rushes to the King and Queen to tell them how Kale is planning to completely destroy the village of Lockville. This part of the book is so boring. The point of the story is that Kale is evil! No one speaks of him until the twenty-eighth chapter, two chapters before the book ends!
Finally, Kale shows up with an army. They race into town on horseback and attack stores and houses, killing everyone but his parents. In the end, Kale stands before them and raises his sword...
Mercedes Lackey obviously failed with this treacherous novel. Storm Warning is hated by most all of the people who read it. Almost all of the dialogue is poorly written along with the fact that nothing makes sense. Kale is supposed to be the main character but he is in about five of the total thirty chapters.
0 out of 5 stars.
